Diablo Paddlesports is the dream of two college buddies: Thomas Flemons and Jay Korbell. Lifetime outdoorsman and river rats who met their freshman year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, they wanted a single watercraft that offered the benefits of both stand-up paddleboard and kayaking. Their hands-on research, coupled with the expertise of consultant Tim Niemeyer of Wild Design, made their dream a reality.
A native Texan, who began canoeing and hunting at 6, Flemons is a lifelong outdoorsman. When not kayaking, Flemons is hunting, fishing, camping, or spending time with his bird dogs. But kayaking – especially along the Devils, San Marcos, Llano, Guadalupe, and Colorado rivers — remains his primary passion.
Jay Korbell, a native of San Antonio, like Thomas was captivated with the outdoors at a young age. Hunting and fishing came naturally to Jay and to this day he is well known in South Texas as one of the best. Jay is a graduate of Texas Tech University and along with his passion for the paddle sports he is involved in various land and water conservation organizations including the Texas Wildlife Association.
